Personalized Cancer Screening
In this video, Biotandem will answer the question of which cancer screenings should be done for a healthy individual based on their age group.
In this article, we'll be asking Biotandem the following : What cancer screenings should be done for a healthy individual based on their age group?
Let's check out our example Biotype.
A biotype represents the collection of key features that should be considered when making health decisions for an individual. For example, our biotype is 50 years old, woman, post menopausal and currently smoking. Let's take a closer look at smoking. (Press the arrow button at the left side of "Current smoking")
The opening list show details about "Current smoking" feature. The one of the key features about smoking is pack-years of smoking.
Lets select pack-years of smoking from the left and select 20-30 pack-years of smoking from the right.
And then save the changes by pressing the "Save changes" button on the right corner.
You will see, it's added below the "Current smoking" feature.
This biotype also has family history of pancreatic cancer. Now let's review the biobook by pressing the "Biobook" tab.
Biobook is the personalized information set generated by biotandem for this biotype. The biobook provides separate recommendations for each organ system and life activity.
Since we are focusing on cancer screening, we will use the neoplastic filter on the left.
Here we can start reviewing risks and screening recommendations for each organ in the body. For example, let's look at the ovaries.
In the risk section you'll see the information how life activities impact risk level in the ovaries.
In the monitoring section you see the monitoring recommendations from different healthcare organizations for this biotype.
We look at also the lungs.
The same information for the monitoring and we will see what kind of procedures should be done and the source of organizations. You can compare different organizations.
In this section, if you want to look at the specifically to the family history of pancreatic cancer in this biotype, select "Family history of pancreatic cancer" from the index.
Then you can look at its neuroendocrine, colorectal, pancreas and the genome recommendations for this biotype.
Remember, every new feature added creates an updated biobook ensuring the most accurate personalized recommendations for each patient.
